AAYA Fundraising for the Walk to End Alzheimer's

By: Jack Dong

In an effort to support Alzheimer’s awareness and research, AAYA hosted a series of fundraising events with Fox Trail Memory Care of New Jersey. Our fundraisers raised a total of $466 and all proceeds went to Alzheimer’s New Jersey. Alzheimer’s New Jersey is a nonprofit organization with the goal of helping families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. They provide essential support services, advocacy, and educational resources to families and individuals that are dealing with Alzheimer’s, and raise awareness for those battling the disease. Furthermore, on October 13th, at 9AM, there will be a Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s at Bergen Community College. All are welcome to this community event that brings awareness to the challenges that families impacted with dementia face throughout New Jersey. In the past month, we have hosted a variety of fundraisers among various Fox Trail Memory Care Center’s in New Jersey. On August 12th, fundraisers were held at Fox Trail Memory Care Centers in Paramus, Hillsdale, and Park Ridge. At Paramus, volunteers sold friendship bracelets created by volunteers and residents, while Hillsdale held a bake sale with homemade treats, and Park Ridge sold custom homemade trail mix bags. On August 13th, Fox Trail’s Cresskill location hosted carnival games, including a punch to win prizes game where participants randomly choose a cup for a prize, and at Ramsey, volunteers ran a lemonade stand. On August 18th, a bake sale was held at Fox Trail’s Mahwah location, and an art show was held by volunteers at Princeton as well. Also, we will be selling the artwork from our volunteers at Princeton in a silent auction with all proceeds being donated to support Alzheimer’s New Jersey. Lastly, on August 31st, in partnership with Studio YM 14th Annual Art Exhibition in Tenafly, we raised $960 to support Alzheimer’s New Jersey. We thank everyone who participated in our fundraising events and supported the cause. Every dollar raised helps support Alzheimer’s New Jersey’s mission of improving the lives of those affected by dementia.
